From Dos to MS Workgroups

1983 the M24 and M28 are the most well-known in relation to MS-DOS, other Olivetti PCs, like the M21, also supported MS-DOS alongside other operating systems.

My Dad had this wealthy BFF with kids more than 10 year older than me. I would ride my push-bike from East Burwood to North Box Hill hang help Steven Sell PCs out of his Garage.

Here is where is started playing around with networking protocols like NetBeui and Ipx/Spx, learning about data packets over coaxial cable.

Playing games between 2 PCs was a pipe dream that only few could achieve. It took the rest of the world a few year to catch up. I had a personal shift on Computers and discovered Electrics due to my Godfather and his son Kevin opening the door to breadboards and UHF Communications.

His home. Scattered everywhere were Dick Smith Electronics Catalogs, known for its electronics kits and components, also offered a network kit. Included projects that could be built using a disk-based system.

The “breadboards” with spring connections for temporary component placement. The components were initially supplied in bags and later boxed.  Weekends eating breakfast cereal and inhaling solder fumes.

A world of courtyards, hospital rooms, trampolines and garden time amongst lunatics while at the time learning about Secret Solar Tech, Radio Frequencies, Military Communication protocols and agricultural engineering.

To no surprise in Beechworth My Godfather was a Secret Technology Engineer for Australia. Beneath Mayday hills Insane asylum. Floors bellow, engineering research labs filled with 20 Engineers maximum.
